Real Estate and All That Jazz: Throw way My Laptop?....No, Not Quite Yet!

Throw way My Laptop?....No, Not Quite Yet!

I found a FREE product I love! It's called logmein and can be found at www.logmein.com.

Have you ever wanted to leave your laptop at home, but knew that you may regret it? You just needed to check a spreadsheet or a Contract that was in your desktop folders. Thankfully, many programs are online and can be accessed from anywhere. But we all have our own stashes of personal items in our "desktop" folders and this product I found makes your laptop almost "virtual". You can get into your laptop from anywhere you have online access.

You will need to set-up a new account  and password, but you will also need your main computer's  username and password to work remotely This was a glitch for me, but I finally figured it out.

Check it out--- laptops may soon become a thing of the past!

Deborah,

Nice, but I agree with you...  I still want my laptop!

Yes I do too. Having the ability to access it when I have left it at my home office, or when I am traveling---this product works great.

Deborah, remote access is nice... perhaps I can switch to a desktop and an IPAD ;-)

It gets the mind thinking, doesn't it? Actually, I think the "laptop" will be come obsolete at some point....I haven't  figured out how this will work, but I am sure someone will. Actually with software becoming virtual, we are not a long way off.

I always wonder about making it easier for someone else to access my computer.  I'll take my laptop with me....

Hello Deborah - I need this!  Then I can get a new smaller laptop to take with me and leave the one I have now at home.

That's exactly what I will do. However, when I logged into my main computer from my 10" laptop, the print on my documents  was so small I could barely read it. If you figure out how to  enlarge the documents, please let me know.

Hey, Deborah - In reading your comment (#10), there probably is a setting under Print that gives you several options. One is usually "Print screen" and another is "100%." You want to choose 100%.

Russell-

I tried and everything else enlarged except the actual software...I will go back & fiddle with it--thanks for the info

Deborah - this is excellent info because I travel to San Diego , Seattle and Portland a lot and always have to drag my lap top.  I will definitely check it out!

I have used logmein for years and it works fantastic. There is everything you need without having to drag it all with you! The computer you want to log into must be turned on in order to access the information. (I think that is probably obvious!) Great information!
